My HP seems to be incapable of having bluetooth consistently function properly. I constantly have to restart the adapter and/or the computer to get my devices to connect. Now it is to the point where, even after taking these steps, I cannot connect my devices. Would appreciate to hear more troubleshooting ideas and whether this is a common problem with HP laptops. May have to try a different brand when I get my next computer because this has been frustrating, and I've never had a problem remotely like it with any other device.

Hi @Iowafootball26,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Which Bluetooth devices are you mainly trying to connect (headphones, mouse, keyboard, etc.)?
  • Do you notice the issue only after waking from sleep, or even on a fresh boot?
  • Have you updated your Bluetooth and wireless drivers from HP’s support site for your exact model, or are you relying on Windows’ automatic updates?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you could try:

  • Update drivers: Go to HP’s support page for your laptop model and install the latest Bluetooth/Wireless drivers. Windows Update sometimes misses manufacturer-specific fixes.
  • Reset Bluetooth stack: In Device Manager, uninstall the Bluetooth adapter, then restart your PC so Windows reinstalls it fresh.
  • Disable power management: In Device Manager → Bluetooth adapter → Properties → Power Management tab, uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.” This often helps with intermittent connections.
  • Run Windows Bluetooth troubleshooter: Settings → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters → Bluetooth.
  • BIOS update: HP occasionally releases BIOS updates that improve hardware compatibility, including wireless and Bluetooth stability.
  • Check interference: If you’re in a crowded Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth environment, try switching your Wi‑Fi band (2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz) to reduce conflicts.

I hope this helps.
