@Allain, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If the break keys are not working on your new HP 17 Laptop PC 17-c2000 series, there could be several reasons for this. Here are some solutions and considerations based on the keyboard specifications:
Check Function Key Behavior:
- Some laptops require you to press the Fn key in combination with the break key. Verify if this behavior is enabled by looking for function key settings in the BIOS.
- To access the BIOS, restart your computer and press Esc or F10 repeatedly as it starts up. Look for any settings related to function keys.
Update Keyboard Drivers:
- Ensure that all drivers, especially keyboard drivers, are up-to-date. You can check for updates using the HP Support Assistant or visit HP Drivers and Downloads.
Check for Physical Keyboard Layout Differences:
- Compare the key layout on your old HP laptop with the new one. There might be a slight difference in the placement or existence of certain keys.
Access and Customize Keyboard Settings in Windows:
- Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard and check for any configurations that might be affecting the break key functionality.
I hope this helps.
