Hi, some days ago I turned on my computer, and it showed a checksum invalid message. I disassembled the laptop, and it doesn’t contain a CR2032 battery. I tried removing the battery and starting it only with the charger, but the issue continues. I also tried accessing the BIOS with F10, but the screen is still black. I don’t know what to do.

Hi @fayasta08
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’re dealing with a BIOS issue indicated by the "MOS checksum is invalid" error. This usually points to a problem with the BIOS settings or the firmware itself. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve this:
1. Reset BIOS Settings
- If you can access the BIOS, try resetting it to default settings. Since you mentioned that the screen is black when pressing F10, this may not be possible right now.
2. Clear CMOS
- Since your laptop doesn’t have a typical CR2032 battery, it may use a different method for CMOS storage. Look for a jumper or a reset button on the motherboard that can clear the CMOS settings. Check the laptop’s service manual for guidance.
3. Power Cycle the Laptop
- Disconnect the power adapter and any peripherals. Then, hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds to fully discharge any residual power. After that, reconnect the power and try to turn it on again.
4. Reflash the BIOS
- If you cannot access the BIOS at all, you may need to reflash it using a USB drive. Visit the HP Support website and search for your laptop model to find the latest BIOS version. Follow the instructions provided for creating a BIOS recovery USB.
5. Check for Hardware Issues
- Inspect the internal connections to ensure that everything is seated properly. Sometimes, reseating the RAM or storage drive can help.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
