Hi there, yesterday randomly I was unable to log in to my Notebook. I only recently started having problems with my Notebook after the latest Windows 10 service pack update. When I did manage to get in to my laptop, it looks like the CTRL key is activated. I’ve checked sticky keys and that’s not the issue. When the CTRL key is activated, I can’t type anything. It’s like as if they keyboard has stopped working and then I just can’t do anything with my laptop. I’ve googled this to find a solution and have not been able to.

Is there a fix for this?

It seems like every week, more issues are found with the latest Windows Update -- and the only immediate solution would be to go into Windows Update and see if you can remove it.  But, that is only a temporary solution at best, as MS will then FORCE the update on you at the next opportunity.

Try connecting an external keyboard to see if that has the same problem.  IF it does not, then you would need to consider having the built-in keyboard replaced.

Ok. To me it looks like there’s an issue with the USB function. When I use an external keyboard that’s when the CTRL key activated and then when I remove the USB dongle, it stays that way on my laptop or sometimes it just goes off. I don’t know what I am meant to do to fix it.

And I also forgot to mention that this problem with the USB function has only happened after the latest Windows 10 service pack update.

Don't mean to nitpick -- but Windows 10 does not have Service Packs.

So which of these updates did you do:

1) Feature update to Win10 v20.04

2) Cumulative update for Win10 v19.09

It would’ve been one of those. I’m not sure. I get notifications on my laptop that there’s an update and it does it automatically for me.
