Hi there @jmarshal10, and welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

If your built-in camera on the HP Envy x360 has stopped working, and privacy settings are already enabled, here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
  • Look for your camera (e.g., HP Wide Vision HD Camera).
    • If it's missing, proceed to Step 4.
    • If it's listed but has a yellow warning icon, right-click and choose Update driver.

Enable Camera in BIOS

Sometimes the camera is disabled at the hardware level.

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  • Look for Advanced > Device Configuration or similar.
  • Ensure the Camera is enabled.
  • Save and exit BIOS.

Check Windows Camera Privacy Settings

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  • Ensure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are both turned ON.
  • Scroll down and make sure the specific app (e.g., Zoom, Teams) has access.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Use HP’s built-in diagnostics to test the camera:

  • Press Esc during startup and select F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Choose Component Tests > Webcam Test.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Alternatively, download the latest version here: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

Reinstall Camera Driver

  • In Device Manager, right-click the camera and choose Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
  • If not, download the driver from HP Support: Official HP® Support

Test in Camera App

  • Open the Camera app from the Start menu.
  • If it shows “We can’t find your camera,” note the error code and share it here for further help.

Additional Tips

  • If you recently installed updates or apps, try a System Restore to a point when the camera was working.
  • Check for Windows Updates and install any pending updates.

If the suggestions helped solve the problem, please let us know by clicking “Accepted Solution.” It really helps fellow users find quick answers.

A quick “Yes” also goes a long way in showing appreciation!

Take care and happy computing!
