HP Notebook - 15-dw0003la
Microsoft Windows 11

Hey. I need some help with my camera. It turns on the LED, but no image is shown. I've tried so many ways to solve the issue, and they don't work.  HP doesn't show me available drivers for my laptop with Windows 11 Pro

Hi @David199r

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this—especially when the LED suggests the camera is active but nothing shows up. That kind of mismatch can feel like chasing shadows.

If your HP Notebook 15-dw0003la camera LED turns on but no image appears, the issue likely stems from a driver conflict or firmware-level glitch. You can restore functionality by reinstalling the camera driver manually and checking privacy settings.

Let’s walk through a few precise steps to help restore your webcam’s functionality.

Step-by-step fix for camera not showing image

1. Confirm camera privacy settings

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
  • Make sure Camera access is turned ON.
  • Scroll down and ensure “Let apps access your camera” is enabled.
  • Check that the apps you’re using (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Camera app) have permission.

2. Reinstall the camera driver manually

Even if HP doesn’t list a Windows 11-specific driver, the Windows 10 version often works reliably.

  • Open Device Manager (press Windows + X > Device Manager).
  • Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
  • Right-click HP TrueVision HD Camera > Uninstall device.
  • Check “Delete the driver software for this device” if available.
  • Restart your laptop.

Windows will attempt to reinstall the default driver automatically.

If not, download the Windows 10 camera driver from HP:

  • HP Notebook 15-dw0003la Drivers
  • Select Windows 10 (64-bit) > expand Driver-Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices.
  • Download and install the Realtek or HP Camera Driver listed.

This driver is compatible with Windows 11 in most cases.

3. Test the camera in HP UEFI diagnostics

This confirms whether the issue is hardware-related.

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly during startup.
  • Press F2 to enter HP Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Select Component Tests > Webcam Test.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.

Your uploaded image shows the webcam test failed, which may indicate a hardware fault.

4. Try the Windows Camera app

  • Open Camera from the Start menu.
  • If it shows a black screen, press Ctrl + S to switch between front/rear cameras (if applicable).
  • If the app crashes or remains blank, the driver may still be misconfigured.

Let me know if the camera responds after reinstalling the driver or if the diagnostics test fails again—I’ll guide you further based on what you find.
