Hello, my webcam stopped working so I uninstalled the driver, but the driver is not listed on the HP drivers for my device so I am no longer able to reinstall. Is anyone able to help me with the driver file to reinstall my camera?

Hi @jengrin,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern about the camera issue, don’t worry let me help you with this.

Could you please share the exact model number of your HP laptop and the windows version along with the build version ?

In the meantime, here are a few  steps you can try:

  • Check Windows Update: Sometimes camera drivers are delivered through Windows Update rather than the HP support page. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
  • Device Manager Scan: Open Device Manager, right‑click on your computer name at the top, and select Scan for hardware changes. This can sometimes reinstall the missing driver automatically.
  • BIOS/HP Support Assistant: Updating the BIOS or running HP Support Assistant can sometimes restore missing drivers.

Could you also let me know if the camera is completely missing from Device Manager or if it shows up with a yellow warning icon?

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.

You can try installing the Microsoft Camera Driver:
In Device Manager, click Action > Add legacy hardware.
Follow the prompts and select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list.
Choose Imaging Devices or Cameras.
If available, select Microsoft or Standard Camera Driver.
