HP Pavilion x360 - 14-dh1010tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Camera starts to show lines and image distortion within seconds of starting and goes still. contacted HP support couple of time . first installed BIOS driver , then was asked to do a system check which passed successfully , tried all updates for windows 10 . everything is in place problem still persists.

How are you accessing the camera?

Are the lines and freezing only happening in a certain app?

Also go into the Device Manager and see if there is a yellow caution sign next to the webcam device.

  1. Type Device Manager into the Windows Search bar and hit Enter.
  2. Go to Cameras and expand the arrow.
  3. See if a caution sign is present.

If a caution sign is present, right click the device and uninstall it. Reboot the PC and give it a minute to auto reinstall the driver.  See if the camera works now.

If it still does not work and/or does not work no matter what app is used, the camera is most likely failing and will need replaced. Since you are under warranty, HP is supposed to fix it.

Note: just because the diagnostics does not detect an error, does not mean the camera is OK.
