Hi there, i recently installed a new SSD in my laptop with the assistance of a forum member. I have reinstalled the Win 8.1 o/s which is what I had previously before the issues which caused me to change it initially. When the Win 10 o/s became available a few years back, I downloaded it but my laptop couldn't handle it for whatever reason and I reverted back to Win 8.1. As a previous owner of a laptop that had 8.1 and the offer of 10, am I able to get the latter now my laptop is working well and fine on the new SSD? Is it still free or at a cost? Please provide links/instructions on where/how I would obtain it please, if I am allowed to of course? Regards, Rita

Windows 10 is a product from Microsoft, not HP. Please check with Microsoft. I don't believe they still offer it free now

Hi Rita,
I believe that if you ever installed Windows 10 on the PC, you should be able to activate automatically. In any case, you can download the media creation tool and create a bootable USB drive with the OS on it and then install Windows 10 on the machine. It should activate automatically, if not, online for real cheap you can get a digital license.

During installation choose custom install and delete all partitions and install in unallocated space.
Hope it helps,
David
