Hi @jayko10,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Downgrading your BIOS can be tricky, especially if the current BIOS version has been set to prevent downgrades. Here's a general approach you can try to downgrade the BIOS from F37 to F36 on your HP Pavilion Gaming TG01-0199. Please proceed with caution, as BIOS downgrades can risk system stability.

Steps to Downgrade BIOS:

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Before proceeding, enter your BIOS setup by pressing F10 during startup.
  • Look for any settings related to BIOS protection or Secure Boot, and disable them. This might allow a downgrade.

Prepare a BIOS Recovery USB:

  • Download the BIOS F36 version from the HP Support website specific to your PC model.
  • Use the HP BIOS Update utility to create a USB flash drive with the F36 BIOS file.
  • Make sure the USB drive is formatted to FAT32.

Attempt BIOS Recovery:

  • Power off your computer completely.
  • Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.
  • Hold down the Windows key + B (or V on some models) while pressing the Power button.
  • Continue holding the keys until you see the BIOS recovery screen.
  • If the recovery screen appears, follow the prompts to install the BIOS F36 version.

Force BIOS Update via DOS:

  • Create a bootable USB with DOS using a tool like Rufus.
  • Copy the BIOS F36 .bin file and the HP BIOS flash utility (often named HpBiosUpdate.exe) to the USB drive.
  • Boot from the USB into DOS.
  • Use the command to flash the BIOS, e.g., HpBiosUpdate.exe /f /r, where /f forces the update, and /r restarts the system.

Important Notes:

  • Check Compatibility: Ensure the BIOS version you are trying to downgrade to is fully compatible with your system and won't cause hardware issues.
  • Backup Important Data: Always back up important data before attempting a BIOS downgrade.
  • Risk of Bricking: There’s a risk of bricking your motherboard during a BIOS downgrade, so only proceed if absolutely necessary.

If these steps don't work or you're uncomfortable proceeding, it might be best to contact HP phone support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

when I tired using the DOS method, I got an error saying “this program cannot be open or use in the DOS mode” I put the files called “sp149172” “08653.bin” and “08563.sig” on the use drive. I know that the sp149172 is a bios update within windows, however I am trying to downgrade my bios f37 to f36 which I cannot use the executable file. Also I have tried the usb method but no luck at all it show me the maw screen I posted on here. Also the files called “HpBiospdate.exe” does not exist for me. Is there anyway I can downgrade Verison ? Also I do not have the option to update on bios settings
