Hey

I want to upgrade my laptop but I can't find windows 10 drivers.

Can I use windows 8 drivers insted?

Thanks

@Bilbo6

Generally speaking, Win8.1 drivers (not Win8) tend to work OK with Win10 -- but there is no guarantee, especially with the specialized hardware that is present in laptops.

That said, there are Experts on this forum that have access to drivers I don't know about, so perhaps one of them will come along and recommend some different drivers for you.

Good Luck

@Paul_Tikkanen will likely know. The laptop is not supported officially by HP for Windows 10 as you can see but in most cases drivers can be found from hardware manufacturers or Windows 8.1 drivers can be force installed and will work. The switchable graphics is likely going to present a problem if anything.

Hi, @Bilbo6

If your notebook has the AMD/Intel switchable graphics, I don't think that graphics setup will work on W10.

Audio also might not work.

As long as you have a way to reinstall W7...If you want to experiment with W10, make the installation media from the link below.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If W10 asks you to enter a product key during the installation process, check the 'Skip' box, and W10 will install.

Then you should have 30 days to test it out before having to buy a key or reinstall W7.

There are two drivers I know you will need to use the W8 drivers for...the SD card reader and the 3D driveguard.

Some folks have reported that W10 did not need to be activated using this method, so you may get lucky and still get the free upgrade.
