Can't install linux on HP envy 15 (RAID->AHCI problem)

Hello,

I have a problem with my brand new laptop HP envy 15, I work as a software developer and I have to install linux on it. During the installation linux cannot detect my SSD, because its set up to be in RAID, linux requires AHCI mode. I should be able to change it in BIOS, but there is not such a option.

What should I do? Is there anything I can do to install linux on this machine? What can I do? I think this is something you should let buyer know before he makes a choice to buy your laptop..

I'm sorry, but HP only warranties their PCs for usage with the OS that comes preinstalled.

IF you replace that with a Linux distro, or add a Linux distro, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that -- including solving any problems with booting the other OS and/or installing the other OS.

Modern PCs with UEFI, instead of the older BIOS, are especially difficult to install because you have to go into the UEFI settings and make several changes before you can even boot from a USB stick -- and we are unable to assist in that work.

Your best bet for support now is to contact the support forum of the distro you are using.

As to notifying you about Linux problems, HP has no way of knowing what other OS folks would want to load on their PCs, so it can not possibly test it with the hundreds of Linux distros out there to find out what works and what does not.
