I have an old netbook that is out of warranty. A technician worked on it and now I can't get HP Support Assistant to open. I tried installing it again, but it doesn't work and the program is not listed in my apps to uninstall it. It's as if it was both deleted and still there.

Hello @B123477

Welcome to the HP Community !

What happens if you try to install it again ? Does it complete the installation successfully ?

If it does, is HP Support Assistant available in the list of installed apps in  Control Panel -> Programs and features ?

I run the installer, which seems to work but it doesn't appear in the Programs. The  icon still appears in the taskbar, but doesn't work to open it. Thanks.

Check with Revo Uninstaller if you find HP Support Assistant and/or HP Support Framework there ?

  1. Download and run Revo Uninstaller Free portable app to complete more in-depth removal of the program and its left overs. Download the portable version >>https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo-uninstaller-free-download/
  2. Start Revo Uninstaller
  3. Find HP Support Assistant and proceed to remove it
  4. Do the same for HP Support Framework (or anything HP Support related)

Note - watch this tutorial about using Revo Uninstaller >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgSJkd11voM

Make sure that at the end of the program uninstallation you also perform ADVANCED scanning and remove any registry and folders leftovers

6. Restart your computer - here are instructions how to do it >> https://www.digitalcitizen.life/7-ways-shut-down-or-restart-windows-10-pc-or-device

7. Download and run Wise Registry Cleaner (portable) from this location >> https://www.wisecleaner.com/wise-registry-cleaner.html

8. Start Wise Registry Cleaner and perform Deep scanning - remove all errors it may find.

9. VIsit this link and re-download HP Support Assistant >> https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html

10. Reinstall HP Support Assistant and see if it will work for you
