Hi.
I have HP Pavilion dv7t-6c00 and my Radeon graphic card is not functioning. i'm sure its a driver problem and i downloaded the driver "sp55092" from HP official website, and now it's showing a black screen after i install the driver.
I need to "Recover" my settings to start using the notebook again. I have checked and found out that my Graphic Card must to be "AMD Radeon HD 6770M" but in Device Manager it shows that "AMD Radeon HD 6400M" was installed. Can anyone help?

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand the driver you've installed for the graphics card doesn't match part specifications and the upgrade caused a black screen,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Have you attempted to update the drivers from AMD directly?
(Since the drivers posted on the HP website, didn't work, as they are usually generic, you can get the updated version from the manufacturer's site as well)
Uninstall the Graphics card driver you've installed and then:
Click here to install the AMD Autodetect tool and get the correct version on your PC.
Let me know if those steps worked for you,
If they did, that's awesome!
Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck

Hi RD
Thank you for your reply.
I uninstalled the driver from Device Manager, then i used the AMD Autodetect tool.
It says that it can't detect any devices, then i tried that without uninstalling the driver.
It installed the "Radeon HD 7400M" series and then showed a black screen again.
I've restored the system. Now i have the same 6400M driver installed again.
Any other ideas or did I done something wrong? 🙂

I installed a copy of windows using my key, so it's ok now:)
About the problem:
Sometimes it causes black screen, sometimes nothing happens when I install the driver, but after restarting windows fails to start. So I'm restoring the system.
I using a program named "DriverPack Solution". It installed a driver that runs my Intel Graphics card but not AMD (installed 6400M). So at least Intel is working.
I've found out that the driver that HP recommends (sp55092), is supporting Radeon 6490M, 6770M, 7470M and 7690M series. All others has been installed but never 6770M, that is supposed to be in my laptop.
I also have checked the Device Manager before installing anything after windows, and I saw that one of two standard graphics devices shows a "!" sign in yellow triangle. That was first one in list of Display adapters, and there supposed to be AMD. In Properties is nothing written about that, it only says install the driver.
That's all
Thanks for your time. I appreciate that:)
