Well, finally got this to work by sheer luck. I waited for the the UBUNTU 24.04 LTS release to make sure I got the latest and greatest as I was on 23.x. What was not clear from the Archlinux solution was the EFI partition location. I could not find any of the files it mentioned. After various failed attempts, I just installed 24.04 on both SDD and HDD and noticed something curious. The HDD install actually gave me an option to run 24.04 from the sdb2, which was my new SDD. So, I gave it a try. Low and behold I was running, but not booting, from my SDD. But as I suspected, it was running a LOT faster than my HDD, so all I had to do was change GRUB to default to that entry and I was in business.

So now I have a dual-boot solution with 24.04/Win10 from my HDD and I am running 24.04 from the SDD. Yay
