Hi regarding my HP Pavilion dv6-6168tx Entertainment Notebook PC.
I recently reinstalled Windows7 with my laptop leaving it with no drives, then i installed the drives i could find and the one drive that was left was the graphics driver, I have a AMD Raedon HD 6700M and i couldn’t find a driver anywhere. The device is now called Standard VGA Adapter and does not say AMD Raedon 6700M. If someone could help me update and install the driver, that would be great.

Hi, Ronald.
There is nothing else I can think of.
I guess you can try clean installing W7 again and use that driver I posted and see if it works.
Make sure you have SP1 installed before you try the graphics drivers.
If nothing works, then you will have to assume the AMD GPU has overheated and died.

Most probable cause of the Standard VGA Adapter is the driver for Windows 7 is not installed. See here

Hi, @Romar01
This is the specific graphics driver you need for the notebooks with the Intel/AMD switchable graphics adapters.
This is a custom driver that installs both the Intel and AMD GPU's and it is the only one you should use.

You're very welcome, Ronald.
That is very possible.
That happens sometimes when either one of the GPUs gets too hot.
Over time the heat can damage either or both GPU's.
Since the AMD GPU runs hotter than the Intel one, that is usually the one that goes out first.
Bottom line...if that driver doesn't install the Intel and AMG graphics adapters, then the AMD GPU has gone bad on you and won't accept the driver.

Hi
I do not have internet speed enough to download the suggested driver.
Would like to explain what was happen with the laptop for a better understanding.
Is running on a free Windows10 home edition upgrade version a big error is too much depending on a good internet condition what I do not have most of the time, deleted before installing tons of programs , and unable to turn off the auto update what is very unconvertible with slow internet.
What occurs:
- Normal shut down.
- Next morning after startup auto shutdown occurred.
- After several restarts auto repair started but unable to repair as per displayed window a 32system file was missing. System restore to another date was not possible no restore dates available( All disappeared)
- Carried out roll back to Windows7 which was installed on the D drive same problem still this system32 file was missing. Could make a backup of most my files before the roll back.
- After a view attempts i brought the laptop to a local technician. He found that on the D drive the backup Windows 7 was not there anymore?
- He installed new windows 7 on the C drive but system rejected to install the video card driver.
- Running now without video card. Can do almost all but display is horrible almost like working in safe mode.
Question mark
Why the backup on the D drive was corrupted and why is it deleted.
Video card was running fine until (2) occurred.
