HP Elitebook 8440p
Microsoft Windows Vista

Hi

On my HP Elitebook 8440p in Device Manager there is an error or driver not found for my USB

Here is a picture of it. I cannot find the driver to install the usb

Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Hi:

That's interesting.  I would have thought the USB 2 controllers would have been automatically installed by Vista.

The only suggestion I can offer, would be to install the latest chipset driver directly from Intel.

Download, unzip and run the setup application and restart the PC.

The driver I downloaded says it's older than the one I already have installed

Should I overwrite it?

I have a PVR that I decided to upgrade the software, when I did that, is when all the problems started

Now my computer won't even recognize my PVR box but my other USB connected stuff work like TV tuner or my WD HDD external drive all work

Ugh, I may have to just reinstall Vista

I would try overwriting the driver because you have nothing to lose.

As I wrote earlier, Vista should have installed the USB drivers automatically.

If it doesn't work, you will have to reinstall Vista, which should resolve the issue.

I just did the reinstall

It was fast, didn't even seem like it installed anything lol but I still see the yellow error 😩
