HP Pavilion Plus 16 inch Laptop PC 16-ab1000 (91D15AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I started  at this link:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000093645/wireless/wireless-software.html

So I used the DSAUninstaller, which completed without problem.

I read this page for compatibility https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000097102/wireless.html

which says "Intel® Evo™ or Intel® vPro® platforms (12th Gen Intel® Core™ processor or greater)."

My CPU is a Core Ultra 7 155H (Meteor Lake). Thus newer than the 12th generation.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meteor_Lake#Meteor_Lake-H
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/236847/intel-core-ultra-7-processor-155h-24m-ca...

However, downloading the installer for the ICPS from https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/738623/intel-connectivity-performance-suite-icps-fo...

I get the following error:

Wallby_0-1757503568909.png

On HP's driver page the latest version for ICPS is: 3.1024.505.1 Rev.A

On the manual download page from intel the latest version is:  40.25.7251

The page https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000097102/wireless.html

claims that: "If the Driver Package Version is 40.25.2228 then you will find the Software Version is 4.1025.207.1 (This is listed in the Detailed Description of the Driver Package on Intel Download Center.)"

But I couldn't find this information on the page https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/738623/intel-connectivity-performance-suite-icps-fo...

So I assume the software version is 4.1025.xxx.x since the major and minor versions of 40.25.7251 and the example 40.25.2228 are the same.

Hi @Wallby,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for the very detailed information you’ve provided. It really helps narrow down the issue. I see from your screenshot that the InstallShield Wizard fails with error 0x80004005, which is a generic Windows installation error (often related to permissions, compatibility, or a corrupted installer). Let me summarize what’s happening and how you can proceed.

What’s going on

  • You’re trying to install the Intel Connectivity Performance Suite (ICPS).
  • Your HP Pavilion Plus 16-ab1000 with an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H (Meteor Lake) is newer than the “12th Gen or greater” requirement, so in theory it should be supported.
  • The HP driver page lists ICPS 3.1024.505.1 Rev.A (an HP-validated version).
  • Intel’s direct site lists 40.25.7251, but the installer aborts with 0x80004005.

This usually means that the package from Intel has not yet been validated for your exact HP platform (OEM-specific tuning matters), or that the installer is detecting a mismatch with existing components.

Steps you can try

  1. Uninstall any previous ICPS remnants
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
    • Uninstall anything related to Intel Connectivity Performance Suite.
    • Reboot.

  2. Clean up temporary installer files
    • Press Win + R, type %temp%, and delete all files in the Temp folder.
    • Run Disk Cleanup to clear system temp files as well.

  3. Run the installer as Administrator
    • Right-click the Intel installer → Run as administrator.

  4. Check for prerequisite Intel drivers
  5. Try the HP-recommended version first
    • Since HP has validated 3.1024.505.1 Rev.A, I recommend installing that version first.
    • Intel’s newer 40. The x package may not yet be fully supported on your HP configuration. OEM validation sometimes lags behind Intel’s public release.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi. Thank you for the reply.

After putting my laptop in the uninstalled (DSA and ICPS) state of https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000093645/wireless/wireless-software.html

I installed ICPS 3.1024.505.1 Rev.A from the HP drivers page and went on with the rest of the tutorial to reinstall the Intel Driver & Support Assistant (DSA) as per the last paragraph of the article.

I've now marked the update listed in the DSA (which prevents me from ever pressing "install all") as hidden:

The reply was an explanation for why there currently is no solution. So I can't mark it as a solution.
