I recently uninstalled the Synaptic Touchpad driver by deleting it from Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
I did this so I could play video games using WASD and use my Touchpad like I would a computer mouse. I decided that I use the extra features of the touchpad more than I game for this to be beneficial, so I want the drivers back.
I tried to reinstall the driver by downloading it straight from the synaptic website but it won't install, it gives me the error "synaptic device not found"
I do not have a synaptic device under "Mice and other pointing devices" in Device Manager. It only shows "ps/2 compatible mouse."
Restoring my system to a previous recovery is not an option. Have I irreversibly ruined my touchpad because I forgot to backup my laptop before deleting the driver?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824
While you respond to that, let's try these steps:
System Restore returns your computer to the files and settings from the restore point. Your personal files and documents are not affected.
You can also undo a System Restore if the restore does not resolve the issue or if the issue becomes worse.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
