Hello, @dsb007 - Hope you are well 🙂
Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
I understand that you are having issues while trying to install the HP Support Assistant. Is the issue specific to the HP Support Assistant? Try to install a different program and check if there is any issue installing the program. Let me know the outcome.
If the issue is specific to HP SA, then go to the setup folder and try to install the HP Support Assistant by opening “msiinstaller.exe” file instead of setup.exe.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Good luck 🙂

Hello, @dsb007
Thanks for the update!
Try to turn off the UAC (User Account Control) settings and then try to install the HP Support Assistant again.
- Type UAC in the search field on your taskbar. (If the search field isn't visible, right-click the Start button and choose Search.)
- Click Change User Account Control settings in the search results.
- Then do one of the following:
- To turn UAC off, drag the slider down to Never notify and click OK.
- To turn UAC on, drag the slider up to the desired level of security and click OK.
- You may be prompted to confirm your selection or enter an administrator password.
- Reboot your computer for the change to take effect.
Turn off the UAC and then restart the PC. Try installing the HP SA and then once installed, you can change back the UAC to the normal level.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Cheers 🙂
