@Penny210, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Damaged Black Ink Cartridge Message!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If you are repeatedly receiving a message indicating that the black ink cartridge is damaged, even after replacing it, the problem may be due to a variety of causes. Here are several potential solutions recommended by HP:
Use Genuine HP Cartridges
Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. HP recommends the use of genuine HP ink or toner supplies, as the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges cannot be guaranteed.
Restart the Printer
Sometimes, restarting the printer can resolve the issue. Here are the steps:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Remove the ink cartridge.
- Clean the gold-colored contacts on the ink cartridge with a lint-free cloth.
- Clean the corresponding contacts inside the printer with the same cloth.
- Reinsert the ink cartridge.
Check for Firmware Updates
Updating the printer firmware to the latest version may resolve compatibility issues with new cartridges.
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Look for firmware updates specific to your printer model.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
