Good afternoon. I am receiving an inordinant amount of messages through my computer from an organization called ...... printeradvertising.com. Please let me know how to get this to stop. A ream of paper has already been wasted this weekend with these unwanted advertisements.

This is spam of the worst kiind.
One of the many, many articles on the subject:
New online service will hack printers to spew out spam
If your router supports the option, block the website at the source (router) so the vermin cannot get to your printer / devices.
Lock your Wifi.
Try using Mac Filtering on your router to allow only your devices onto your network. If the printer is on that network, traffic not allowed to use the device should likely be shunted to the bit bucket. (The careful wording is deliberate - I have not really looked into the issue at this time.)
Document from HP:
HP Printers - Printer Prints Unwanted Advertisements (Spam)
If all else fails, remove the paper from the printer until you want to use the device.
Keep your eyes open for news (check the 'net using your favorite browser and search engine).
