Hello,
I have an HP Pavillon B&O, with BIOS version F-56, it has two HDs, one 289 GB and one 1 TB, the 289 GB one is not physical, or at least I didn't locate it when I tried to maintain the notebook, and it has ORM settings are corrupted and failing to start, The system sometimes does not locate it and gives an error message, I need to change the boot to the other HD and this is only possible through advanced bios settings, I also work with system development and need to activate BIOS virtualization. How can I do this? I have tried several tutorials without success.

Hi @Danferocha,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you're facing with your laptop’s BIOS and storage setup—it can be particularly challenging when you're trying to configure it for both stability and your development needs. Let's work through this together.
- When the 289 GB drive is recognized, does it show as an SSD or a separate partition, and is it part of a RAID or Intel Optane configuration?
- Have you been able to access any advanced BIOS options like boot order or virtualization settings, or are they locked/restricted?
- Is the BIOS displaying any specific error codes or details about the corrupted ORM settings?
Let's try these steps.
Identify the Storage Configuration in BIOS:
- Enter BIOS by pressing F10 (or the relevant key) during startup.
- Navigate to the Storage Options or Advanced Settings to check if the 289 GB drive is listed. Verify if it is part of a RAID or Intel Optane setup. If so, consider disabling the RAID/Optane configuration to separate the drives.
Reset BIOS to Default Settings:
- In the BIOS, look for an option to Load Default Settings or Reset BIOS to Factory Settings under the Exit or Advanced tab.
- Save changes and restart the system to see if the corrupted settings issue resolves.
Change Boot Order to Use the 1 TB Drive:
- In BIOS, locate the Boot Options or Boot Order menu.
- Set the 1 TB drive as the primary boot drive. If it doesn’t appear, ensure the drive is properly connected and formatted with a bootable OS.
Enable Virtualization in BIOS:
- In BIOS, find the Virtualization Technology setting under the Advanced or CPU Configuration tab.
- Enable the setting (e.g., Intel VT-x or AMD-V), save, and exit BIOS.
- Verify virtualization is active by running systeminfo in Command Prompt (look for "Virtualization Enabled in Firmware: Yes").
Check and Update BIOS:
- Visit the HP Support website and look for the latest BIOS update for your specific laptop model.
- Follow the instructions to update your BIOS. A BIOS update may fix the corrupted ORM settings and unlock additional options for managing your drives.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
