Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Right so I found this old laptop buried in a cupboard and went to boot it up to see if it worked.

First message said No OS found. so i dug out an old copy of win 7 to put on it but before i could get the install up and running it came up and asked me to inser media that contained the CD/DVD Drive Device Driver.

I didn't even know that this could be removed from a laptop and would really appreciate anyone pointing me in the right direction of a place where i could download this driver to a flash drive so that i can get this museum piece up and running for my little girl

thanks in advance

What is the exact model or product number please? Also from what medium are you trying to install? USB drive or an actual DVD in a DVD drive?

If you are installing from a DVD disk this error generally means there is a problem with it or the drive cannot read it.

I'm installing from a CD but it does read the beginning it gets to the bit where i choose language for setup and i select this then straight after that it tells me that the device driver is not present this is strange as without the device driver i thought it wouldn't even read the disc at all but it does a little bit.

cheers if you have any idea whats going on

I cannot find a model number but in the specs list on the computer there is a product number

CQ57-356EA is the model.

The only other suggestion is try putting the AMD SATA controller driver on a thumb drive and point the installer to it during installation.

This is from Lenovo but should be the right driver:
