Computer lacking while playing Fortnite

We have just bought this notebook because it should be a good gaming pc. But OMG it’s not. My son is playing Fortnite and it’s constantly lacking. We haven’t installer anything but Fortnite. 

Can anyone give me a hint about what to do? Or have we just just lost the money?

Let's try these steps here: 

I would suggest you run the Windows update troubleshooter.

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

Now try to perform Windows Updates - 

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates. 
2) Check for updates. 
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer. 

Next thing, let's try updating the Bios, Chipset and graphics card drivers either from our HP support website, using this link or download it using HP Support Assistant.

To download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
