Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Envy 17T has conflicting power settings.

When it is plugged in, I have it set to Never go to sleep.  When I close the lid, I have it set to Sleep.  I would like the computer to stay on when it is open, but sleep when I close the lid, even if it's plugged in.

Is this doable, or is the always-on when plugged in choice going to override the lid setting?  I haven't found any exception settings for this issue.

Thanks.

Hi, Sleep and Lid settings are different so if you set never go to sleep (on settings) it will not go to sleep but when you close the lid it will sleep. (They will not override)

Hi Poytaz,

That's what I expected, but when the laptop is plugged in, it will not sleep when the lid is closed, and the unit gets very warm.

Thanks

Are you sure the settings at control panel are like this?

Note: I have changed my setting to shown in picture after 10-15 seconds the power light turns off.

Second Note after changing my settings back it showed the same results.

Third Note (Important) : After waiting 10-15 seconds when i open the lid it did not ask my password to change this change the setting below this to Every Time .

Poytaz,

yes, I adjusted my settings to match yours and the system does not go to sleep when the lid is closed and the unit is plugged in.
