Connecing a wifi printer

I am trying to connect a TR4722 Connon Printer to my new HP laptop, everytime I try to install a window pops up telling me to get the app in the store.. that doesnt work either. Im thinking about taking this laptop back

Sure - Personal choice

Yes, you can certainly take the computer back if the Canon printer won't connect.

As an aside, the brand of computer hardware is less likely the cause of setup issues than are other causes.

Computer brand governs the particular devices and drivers - in this case HP software and drivers for the types of components included in the computer.  Example of hardware components:  wireless module / hardware, CPU (processor), keyboard, display.

Most of the rest is controlled by the Operating System, in this case some version of "Windows".  Brand new computers sometimes need more than one round of Windows Updates to catch up.  If you have any extra software installed, consider allowing Windows Updates to update other drivers in addition to the basics.

If you have not done so,

Check - Consider letting Windows Updates include "other" Microsoft products

Example - Windows 11

Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options

Switch ON "Receive updates for other Microsoft products"

What else?

The network you are running in your home or office impacts every single device you want to connect to that network.

For example, if the printer only supports 2.4GHz wireless and your network is not set up to support that requirement, the printer cannot connect to your network.
