I have a Dell Thunderbolt Dock ( WD19TB ) that I'm trying to connect and use with my laptop.

These should be my system specifications, which includes a Thunderbolt port ( took forever to find ), but the dock does not get picked up by the laptop for USB or HDMI out. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05787871

I'm not sure which port is Thunderbolt, I don't see them marked on the laptop, but I tried both and neither works.

When I plug it in I get the 'device connected' sound followed by the 'device disconnected' sound.

The dock DOES however charge my laptop.

I've tried using the dock with the barrel charger plugged in as well.

I also have a 6 port usb hub adapter ( https://www.newegg.com/choetech-hub-m05-usb-c/p/0J2-00E0-00006 ) that works for USB input ( keyboard ) on both USB-C ports even thought the same keyboard doesn't get picked up by the dock.

My laptop does NOT however pick up the HDMI in on this adapter when I try to use it.

Any idea what is going on?

Any help with this would be amazing!

Your 4CJ41AV is a CTO machine, we don't have its specs. But it should have same ports of the following machine

               https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06308295

  • 1 HDMI 2.0;
  • 1 headphone/microphone combo;
  • 1 USB 3.1 Gen 2 (HP Sleep and Charge);
  • 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 2 (10 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery 3.0, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge);
  • 1 Thunderbolt™ 3 (40 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery 3.0, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge)

and the  Thunderbolt™ 3 port is on the right side, the last one from the card reader.

Regards.

@banhien Thank you for the port confirmation!

I plugged the dock in yesterday and it worked as a display for a while but the USB keyboard that was connected to the dock did not. However, when I reconnected the dock the computer did not recognizer it again as anything more than a power source.

Any ideas what is going on here? The dock works just fine on another laptop we have in the house.
