Hello!
Sparkling new Omen laptop, which fits the recommended requirements (and wayyy above) for the game.
When starting a new game, I beat the first intro boss and then the game crashes on the cinematic transition scene (black screen, game shuts down). Second try: It crashes even earlier, in fight. Third time, in fight as well. I have looked online and it may be because windows has an allocation limit per application of resources and I might need to go around this but I don't know how to.
Maybe it's another issue.
Looking forward for your help!!

Hi @Jphi,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It’s really disappointing when a high-performance laptop like yours encounters issues with a game that should run smoothly, especially when it’s new and fully meets the game’s requirements. Let’s explore a few questions to identify specifics and then go over some steps to work around the potential resource allocation limit.
- Does the game show any specific error messages when it crashes, or does it close abruptly without any messages?
- Have you checked if there are any available updates or patches for the game itself that might address stability issues?
- Are you running any background applications that may be consuming significant resources (e.g., streaming or recording software)?
In the meantime let's try these steps
Increase Virtual Memory Allocation: Sometimes Windows’ default virtual memory allocation isn’t enough for high-resource games. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced system settings > Settings (under Performance) > Advanced tab > Virtual Memory. Set a custom size that’s at least 1.5 times your RAM amount, then restart the laptop.
Disable Game Mode and Background Apps: Go to Settings > Gaming > Game Mode and turn it off. This can sometimes interfere with resource allocation. Also, go to Settings > Apps > Startup and disable any unnecessary apps that may be running in the background, freeing up resources for the game.
Update Graphics and System Drivers: Ensure both your NVIDIA/AMD and integrated graphics drivers are fully updated through the HP Support Assistant or from the HP website. Windows Update can sometimes miss the latest versions, which may improve performance and stability for demanding games.
Set the Game to High Performance in Graphics Settings: Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings. Add your game executable and set it to High performance. This will ensure it uses the dedicated GPU rather than integrated graphics, maximizing resource use.
Use Command Prompt to Increase Pagefile for Gaming: Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type:
Press Enter to apply. This command adjusts memory allocation behavior in certain systems to improve application memory use, which could help bypass resource allocation issues.
These steps should help stabilize your gaming experience. Let me know how it goes, and we can explore further options if the issue persists!
