What is the current version of the BIOS for this device?  The HP website only lists WIN 10 as the OS, while my device has and always has had WIN 11 as the OS.  There is no choice for WIN 11 as the OS.  How can I fix this problem and download/update drivers and BIOS for WIN 11?

Hi @JDS145,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you want to check the current BIOS version on your HP Envy 13 aq1-xxx and update drivers/BIOS, but HP’s website only lists Windows 10 options, while your device runs Windows 11. Let’s go through steps to get this sorted safely.

a. Check Current BIOS Version

Press Windows + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter.

In the System Information window, look for BIOS Version/Date — this shows your current BIOS version.

Alternatively:

Restart the laptop → Press Esc repeatedly during startup → Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup → BIOS version is displayed on the main screen.

b. Check Windows 11 Compatibility

Most HP laptops that shipped with Windows 10 can safely run Windows 11, including driver updates and BIOS updates.

HP usually lists Windows 10 drivers, but these drivers are compatible with Windows 11, as Microsoft maintains backward compatibility.

c. Download and Update Drivers

Go to HP Support.

Enter your product number (Envy 13 aq1-xxx).

Select Windows 10 in the OS dropdown (even though you have Windows 11).

Download the latest drivers, including chipset, graphics, and audio — they will work on Windows 11.

Install drivers one at a time and restart if prompted.

d. Update BIOS

On HP Support, download the latest BIOS update for Windows 10 for your Envy 13 model.

Make sure the laptop is plugged in and battery >50%.

Run the downloaded BIOS update utility — it works for Windows 11 as well.

Follow on-screen instructions carefully. Do not turn off the laptop during the BIOS update.

e. Optional: Use HP Support Assistant

Install HP Support Assistant on Windows 11.

It can automatically detect your BIOS and driver versions, and apply updates safely.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.  I've tried these steps, but unfortunately, none of them resolve the problem or changes the Realtek audio driver in the Device Manager. The answers are as follows:

a.  The current BIOS Version/Date is listed as "Insyde F.23, 3/28/2024.  This is the latest driver available from HP.

b.  I've downloaded all drivers, and I get the same messages as indicated.  The Realtek driver does not install as it states it is incompatible.

c. Done - see "b." above.

d. I can't update BIOS.  I have the latest version already.  I've reinstalled it to no avail.

I've used HP Support Assistant and I get the same results.

Now what?
