@Anoop35, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Based on the issue you've described , cursor auto-selecting, intermittent key misbehavior, and UI elements like the Start menu or Wi-Fi dropdown not responding properly, it sounds like a combination of input device glitches and possible system-level UI responsiveness issues.
You've already done some great initial troubleshooting steps (resetting the PC, running sfc /scannow, and a drive scan), so let’s go a bit deeper.
Recommended Steps
Check for Driver Updates via HP Support Assistant
- Open HP Support Assistant (or download it from HP’s official site).
- Go to Updates and install all recommended drivers, especially for:
- Touchpad/Mouse
- Keyboard
- Chipset
- BIOS
Test in Safe Mode
- Boot into Safe Mode with Networking:
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, go to Boot tab, check Safe boot, and restart.
- See if the cursor and keyboard behave normally. If they do, a background app or service might be interfering.
Create a New Local User Profile
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account.
- Create a local account and log in.
- Check if the issue persists. If not, your original user profile might be corrupted.
Disable Touchpad Temporarily
- If you're using an external mouse, try disabling the touchpad:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and toggle it off.
- This can help isolate if the touchpad is causing the erratic cursor behavior.
Check for Background Apps or Overlays
- Some third-party apps (like screen recorders, clipboard managers, or overlays) can interfere with UI elements.
- Try a clean boot:
- Open msconfig, go to Services, check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all.
- Go to Startup tab > Open Task Manager > Disable all startup items.
- Restart and test again.
If none of the above resolves the issue, it may be worth:
- Running HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (press Esc repeatedly at boot > F2 > Component Tests).
- Visiting an authorized HP service center for a hardware inspection, the service team will check and assist you.

I hope this helps.
