Hi,
if I set my cursor a certain size when using the touchpad or a mouse, it stays the same. However, as soon as I use the touch display (finger or pen) it gets bigger. I looked everywhere in the settings and cannot find on where to set the size for the cursor when using the finger or pen. The annoying thing is, after using the touch-function once, the cursor stays the bigger size, even when using the touchpad again. Any tips?
thanks

Hi @Daniela3107,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the cursor size is being dynamically adjusted when you use the touch screen, which can happen due to accessibility or display settings in Windows. Here's how you can adjust the settings and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Ease of Access Settings:
- Open the Settings app by pressing Windows + I.
- Go to Ease of Access > Mouse pointer.
- Check if the pointer size is set to "Large" or if any other settings here are causing the pointer to resize.
- If it is set to "Large," try changing it back to the default size or adjust the size to your preference.
Check High Contrast and Visual Effects:
Sometimes, high contrast or other visual effects can cause the cursor to behave differently on touchscreens.
- Open Settings > Ease of Access > High contrast and ensure that high contrast themes are turned off.
- Go to System > Display and check if Scale and Layout settings are set to the recommended values (e.g., 100% or 125%).
Touch and Pen Settings:
- If you are using a stylus or pen, you can check for specific settings related to pen input that may influence how the cursor behaves when you use it.
- Open Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink, and explore any options that could affect the cursor’s behavior.
Update or Reinstall Drivers:
The issue might also be related to outdated or malfunctioning drivers. Try updating the touchpad, pen, or display drivers:
- Open Device Manager (press Windows + X and select Device Manager).
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices and Human Interface Devices.
- Right-click on your touchpad or pen device and select Update driver.
- Alternatively, you can uninstall the drivers and restart the laptop to allow Windows to reinstall them.
Disable Pointer Trails:
If pointer trails are enabled, it might make the cursor appear larger after touching the screen:
- Open Control Panel and go to Mouse > Pointer Options.
- Uncheck Display pointer trails if it's enabled.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
