I have had similar issues before when dealing with activating Office Professional Plus 2016 on a machine that came preinstalled with Office 365. You might just be dealing with two slightly different version of Office 365 causing the problem.

I advice first uninstalling Office 365 that came with the laptop then following the instructions from your company to install Office 365 their way.  However, when uninstalling I would use RevoUninstaller Free Portable with the most thorough level of leftover removal selected. Then make sure to remove all the left overs it discovers. Then reboot your PC and attempt to install Office 365 as instructed by your company.

You can download Revo Uninstaller Free Portable here: https://www.revouninstaller.com/start-freeware-download-portable

Search for Office and uninstall Office 365. At the end of the uninstall, it will ask you to do the left over cleaning.

Also be careful, you may need uninstall Office Windows apps that are installed by the factory too. But those are less likely to interfere with the PC version of Office 365.

Best of luck!
