Thank you for your reply. I have charged it fully for the 1st time. It is how I proceed from now on when start to use my laptop. Do I have to drain the battery before I recharge it or can I do it when it's getting low but not completely. I don't want to shorten the life of the battery.

What I do is to usually run the notebook until the low battery notification comes on, then I plug it in and charge it.

 

I do not recommend leaving the notebook plugged in to A/C power 24/7/365 because that leaves the battery in a constant 100% charge state and that can lead to battery swelling.
