@Shari82, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Docking Station Monitor Connection Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your laptop is not detecting monitors connected through a docking station, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

Check Connections:

  • Ensure all cables are securely connected to the docking station and monitors.
  • Verify if the power cable is connected to the docking station.

Install Necessary Drivers:

  • Ensure the docking station drivers are installed on your laptop. Visit HP Support to download the latest drivers.
  • For installation instructions, see the docking station's user guide.

Configure Display Settings:

  • Use DisplayLink or Windows settings to configure your monitor display. If the display is set on Mirror mode, try switching to Extend or Duplicate.
  • Access Windows display settings by typing "control panel" in the taskbar search box and selecting "Control Panel" > "Appearance and Personalization".

Check Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager and check for any issues under the Display Adapters or Monitor section.

Power Cycle:

  • Disconnect the docking station from the laptop, then reconnect it. Restart your laptop to see if monitors are detected.

Resolution Limitations:

  • Ensure the monitors and docking station are not exceeding resolution limits. Different settings may be required for dual monitors. Refer to the monitor’s manual for instructions on changing settings.

Using Thunderbolt or DisplayPort:

  • If using Thunderbolt USB-C connections, be aware of bandwidth limitations which may restrict resolution capabilities. Consider changing settings from DP1.4 to DP1.2 for dual 4K monitors.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
