When I connect ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Dock to my HP Laptop 14-cf1599sa I recieve the following notification: "USB4 device functionality might be limited".
I have gone through Windows 11 support article and these are the possible causes
Your device or dock supports USB4, but it's plugged into a port on your PC that doesn't support USB4. The attached device might have limited functionality because it's not using USB4.
You're using a cable that doesn't support USB4.
You're connecting your USB4 device or dock to a dock that doesn't support USB4.
These are funcionalities do not work:
- HDMI connection to extarnal monitor
- Battery charge
These funcionalites do work:
- Ethernet connection
- Keyboard USB reciever work fine.
It looks as though HP Laptop 14-cf1599sa does not support USB4 but I would appreciate a confirmation on that or help to see if there is any driver that can be downloaded to fix it
Any help/ guidance would be much more appreciated
Thanks in advance!

No, it only has
1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Data transfer only); 1 HDMI 1.4b. 1 RJ-45; 1 headphone/microphone combo |
ports.
No, drivers won't make USB 3 or 3.1 ports to USB 4.0 , you need physical hardware.
Regards.
