The HP website does not answer my question.
The HP ENVY 17-cr0001na fulfils all my other requirements but I cannot find this particular fact. I need to find out before buying it.
1 It might be delivered with S3 Sleep
2 It might be delivered with S0 Modern standby but be capable of enabling S3 Sleep instead [using the common Registry change e.g. https://www.elevenforum.com/t/disable-modern-standby-in-windows-10-and-windows-11.3929/]
3 It might be delivered with S0 Modern standby but not be capable of enabling S3 Sleep at all - I won't buy it in this case because I regard S3 Sleep as essential.
Which is it - 1, 2 or 3?
Yours,
Denis

No, it is not possible to get S3 Sleep working.
Trying the quick & simple Registry change explained very well in https://www.elevenforum.com/t/disable-modern-standby-in-windows-10-and-windows-11.3929/ does make the Powercfg -a report say that S3 Sleep is enabled but it still does not work.
Trying S3 Sleep freezes the computer and it has to be forced off. Event viewer records show that it did not even enter S3 Sleep before freezing.
I'm a very disappointed customer,
Denis

Hi @Tryx3,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP ENVY 17-cr0001na laptop is equipped with Windows 10 operating system and is designed to support both S3 Sleep and S0 Modern Standby modes.
S3 Sleep is a traditional power-saving mode where the system is put into a low-power state while still maintaining the state of the system memory. This allows the system to wake up quickly from sleep while still consuming less power compared to the active state.
S0 Modern Standby, also known as Connected Standby, is a newer power-saving mode that allows the system to remain connected to the network and receive notifications while in a low-power state. This mode is designed for instant-on capabilities and can wake up the system within a few seconds.
The ability to use either S3 Sleep or S0 Modern Standby on the HP ENVY 17-cr0001na may depend on the specific configuration and settings of the laptop. However, both modes are typically available on modern Windows 10 devices, so it is likely that the HP ENVY 17-cr0001na supports both modes.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

"The HP ENVY 17-cr0001na laptop is equipped with Windows 10 operating system and is designed to support ... S3 Sleep"
Good.
But you then undermine that statement with, "The ability to use either S3 Sleep or S0 Modern Standby on the HP ENVY 17-cr0001na may depend on the specific configuration and settings of the laptop. However, both modes are typically available on modern Windows 10 devices, so it is likely that the HP ENVY 17-cr0001na supports both modes.
" which puts me back to square one.
