HP ProBook 6550b
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I have an HP ProBook 6550 running Windows 10, I was installing drivers and managed to install them all except for 3 devices (Base System-Device, Base System-Device  and Unknown Device). I looked the laptop up on the HP Support site and noticed they only have drivers for Windows 7, so that is not gonna work. I installed a program which told me the devices needing drivers were 2x ACPI supported devices and an AHCI supported device. I looked for universal drivers for the devices I just mentioned and found one for the AHCI, but when I installed it, it told me I already have a newer version of that driver on the laptop (but Device Manager showed me I dont have any drivers for the device? Since its showing the yellow exclamation mark and can't find any drivers). So, since the drivers sound pretty important I would like some help in finder the right drivers since they seem unfindable.

Also, there are no updates available via Windows Update and HP Support Assistant is also coming up empty

Thanks in advance!

Greetings,

ICTLeerbedrijf

Hi:

You have no choice but to use the W7 drivers from your notebook's support page, some of which will work on W10.

For example...the base system device needs this W7 driver...

This package contains the Ricoh Media Card Reader Driver for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The Ricoh Media Card Reader driver enables the integrated media card slot.

I'll take a guess and say the unknown device probably needs this driver...

This package provides HP 3D DriveGuard for the supported notebook models and operating systems. HP 3D DriveGuard receives notifications from the integrated accelerometer and protects the hard drive (HDD) by automatically "parking the heads" to reduce the risk of damage if the notebook is accidentally bumped or dropped.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

I have upgraded many HP business notebooks to W10--some much older than the 6550b, so I know what drivers normally work.

Just installed the drivers and it worked perfectly, thank you very much!
