If and when I am in need of drivers for any of my HP products, and I have a long list, the software downloads pages do not work. It just sits and scans for hours without going to any download lists. This is happening with all of my products! This is a very critical issue that needs to be resolved ASAP!

The reason you are having issues is because HP retired support for your notebook's model series since it is more than 10 years old.
They just haven't scrubbed the internet of the links yet.
For PC's that haven't been retired, since Internet Explorer is no longer supported by Microsoft, the HP support pages are designed to work with Microsoft Edge.
If you are not using Microsoft Edge to access the support pages, I recommend that you do so.
If you do not have Microsoft Edge installed on a PC that comes with W7 or W8, you can download and install Micrsoft Edge from the link below.
You can download the W7 drivers you need for your dv7-4171us notebook from this reputable 3rd party website:
