Hi there,
I recently acquired this EliteBook X360 1040 G6. I set it up, let Windows do its thing, it reboots a few times doing UEFI Updates, Drivers and many other updates. After those updates competed, I used it fine for a few hours and then went to bed. This morning, I discovered that the mouse and keyboard stopped working. I have been trying to fix this all day while also doing other things.
Here is a list of all the things I have tried that I can remember:
Install HPSA and HP PC Hardware Diagnostics and run all updaters, tests and other things.
Install many different softpacs that might have helped.
Open it and reseat any cables that might have caused this.
Run windows update multiple times.
Power drain (worked until I flipped the screen past 180° then stayed in tablet mode).
Disable sensors Claude and Gemini told me to disable.
Next thing I am going to try is a System Restore and see if that works. Please tell me anything I can do to get this thing to work!!!

You shouldn't disable the sensors, because if you exit tablet mode, the keyboard and mouse won't work. It won't detect the switch from tablet mode to normal mode.
Now try reinstalling these drivers
Intel Serial IO Driver

Intel Sensor Hub Components Driver

I have done at least 3 power resets. I have also installed Windows 10 with the cloud recovery tool and it is still doing it. When I unplug the cable called Webcam it disables the rotation and other sensors, but it allows the keyboard to work at least. Trackpad still doesn't work. After the power reset, the trackpad and keyboard works and it stays in desktop mode, but as soon as I flip it past 180° or I close it, it goes into tablet friendly mode. I think it's an issue with a sensor on the webcam cable. I can't find a part that I can get shipped to me in New Zealand for less than about $150 NZD (~$90 USD) including shipping. Might just need to suck it up and pay the price unless HP will repair it somehow.
