This laptop came installed with HP Client Security installed.  I do not know what version.  It did not come with HP Drive Encryption installed.  I proceeded to install v8.6.24.53.  After drive encryption and activation, a reboot is required.  After reboot, the WinMagic pre-boot loader prompt shows for a moment, then only a black screen will show.  Is there a compatibility issue with these laptops and HP Drive Encryption?  Hard drive is 500gb Toshiba HDD.  Thanks.

This indeed was a one-off issue with this laptop, as the Drive Encryption installed succeeded on the other laptops.  I do not know the specifici hardware issue as I have only just shipped the laptop back to HP for repair.

I received an best practices docuement from HP on installing Drive Encryption.  I do have the correct versions of software installed:  Client Security - v8.3.17.2042, Drive Encryption-v8.6.24.53.  This laptop is on the list of compatible machines with these versions of the software.  I suppose it could be a one-off issue.  I am receiving 8 more of these laptops today.  I'll probably try this on one of them to see if that is the case.
