I bought a HP EliteBook 840 G3 over a year ago. Since then I had been using it and I was very happy.

Although one day Windows has decided to update after that an empty HP HotKey Support dialog window appears every time I press Fn + F5(to decrease brightness) or Fn + F6(to increase brightness).

In addition to that dialog window doesn't appear when other functional combination is pressed. It only reacts to increase or decrease brightness.

Moreover, some HP Hotkey UWP service HPAudioAnalytics.exe is using more than 20 percent CPU usage.

How can I fix these problems? Should I reinstall HP Hotkey Support?

I am looking forward to your reply. Thank you all in advance.

I do have the exact same issue. 15-20% CPU usage. HP 635 Aero G8.

Altough I don't have the problem with the dialog box when pressing the F-Keys, the task "HP Hotkey UWP Service" with its subtask "HP Audio Analytics Service" consumes >20% of my CPU!  When I quit the application it seems to restart at a random time again (maybe linked to using some kind of audio software...idk). Anybody has a solution for that? It's really annoying.

I'm using HP Probook 450 G8

Thank you for sharing your experience and the issues you've encountered following the recent Windows update.

I have the same issue as many others, it seems that the update has caused some unexpected behavior with the HP HotKey Support, particularly when adjusting the screen brightness using Fn + F5 and Fn + F6. Additionally, the high CPU usage by the HP Hotkey UWP service, HPAudioAnalytics.exe, is certainly a concern.

To address these problems, you can try the following steps :

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type services.msc and press Enter. This will open the Services manager.
  3. In the Services list, find the "HP Audio Analytics Service".
  4. Right-click on this service and select 'Properties'.
  5. In the Properties window, change the 'Startup type' to 'Disabled'.
  6. Click the 'Stop' button to halt the service immediately.
  7. Apply the changes and close the window.
  8. Back to the services list, find the "HP Hotkey UWP Service" and follow the same steps (4 to 7)
  9. As a final step, restart your computer.

This process will disable the HP Audio Analytics Service and HP Hotkey UWP Service, which should reduce the CPU usage and resolve the issue with the HP HotKey Support dialog. Brightness keys should also work after a reboot.

If the problem with the function keys persists, you might consider reinstalling the HP HotKey Support software. This can often rectify issues caused by software conflicts or corruption that occurred during the Windows update.

Hope this solution proves effective for you. If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out.

Hi Mxcrml! Thank you very much for that solution! It works - at least until now I didn't encounter the problem again. 😄

I have the same problem with the >20% CPU usage of HP Audio Analytics Service on my HP ProBook 430 G5, Windows 11 22H2 (22621.2715).

Solved by disabling this service.

Since everything seems to run normal, I would like to know what this service is required for?

I agree with DerMaddin.  What does "HP Audio Analytics Services" do?

An analogy for the solution is if your car is running rough, just press this button to turn the problem off.  But maybe that button locks the windows so you can't put them down anymore.  So much for going through drive through anymore.  ha ha

But seriously, will disabling this service as I have also done, impact some feature/function that I would like to use on my HP laptop?  Does it stop me from using function keys (I don't think so, but you get the idea.)
