Ok.. lets go step by step..
1. Use AMD Cleanup utility tool once again and uninstalled all AMD drivers
2. Download driver 18.7.1 and install. At one point you will get message "Error 182''.
That's ok, it won't install but this step is necessary to get the drivers extracted to your PC.
3. Goto Device manager->Right Click on Vega 8 Display adapter->Update Driver
4. A new window will open. ->Browse my computer for driver->Let me pick from the list of available drivers->Have Disk->Select the .inf file
5. The inf file should be in this path by default-> "C:\AMD\Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-18.7.1-\Packages\Drivers\Display\WT6A_INF"
I(t should exist if you tried to install the full package Adrenalin Drivers (step 2), its where AMDs installer extracts its content before installing)
6. There is no Vega 8, so select Vega RX driver from the list. You should get a warning before it installs, just go ahead anyway. Finally restart
Hope it helps.

Anyone else getting blue screens after a windows 10 cumulative update with 18.7.1? As soon as I got the update installed and rebooted last update tuesday, I had 3 bluescreens throughout the day, whith nothing obviously triggering them. Seemed completely random. So I force installed the driver again through device manager, rebooted, and then all was stable again for a week... until I installed the windows 10 update from this tuesday... now I bluescreened again with the same "VIDEO_TDR_ERROR". I just force installed the driver again... so we will see what happens now...

People that forced the more recent drivers from AMD, and reported your laptops as not crashing:
Is that still the case? Did yours start crashing with the "VIDEO_TDR_ERROR" error? (mentioned in the last post by zt7301 ) or is your laptop still stable, like a rock?
I forced the newer drivers but I never got it stable. I get the "VIDEO_TDR_ERROR" error.
Typical triggers being
* watch a video, in which case it will crash about 20-30 minutes in
* scrolling through a site like reddit for 10-20 minutes.

Mine was fine with the AMD june/july 2018 drivers. Unfortunately windows updated and now I´m having crashes again. I really doubt I will buy HP ever again. It´s a pity because I´d really love this machine if it worked.

I was on an extended trip where I was using the laptop as my primary/only computer for work and play. After the windows update I mentioned in my last post where I got 3 bluescreens in a row that day, I reinstalled the 18.7.1 drivers, and the laptop was again stable through the remaining time I was away. At one point earlier I had tried the 18.8.1 drivers, and it was immediate blue screens. 18.7.1 has worked great except after a couple of windows updates, and reinstalling the drivers solved the issue. I'm no longer using the laptop as my primary computer, but I will set it up on my desk tonight and see if I can get it to crash now that windows has updated a couple times since I've been home.
I agree... it is an amazing machine, especially for the price, but the driver support has been a terrible letdown.

I streamed a couple hours of youtube and a couple hours of Amazon Prime video last night without issues. I just turned it on today and will continue to stream to see if anything happens. Was there a prticular video/browser combination that I should test? I'm currently using chrome, connected to a 5ghz wifi, streaming random youtube videos. Hardware acceleration is turned on in chrome.

I follow the instructions and it worked.
For AMD control panel update
Install ccc2_install.exe from
C:\AMD\Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-18.7.1-July19\Packages\Drivers\Display\WT6A_INF\B330925
For Vulkan API support
Install VulkanRT.exe from
C:\AMD\Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-18.7.1-July19\Packages\Apps\VulkanRT64\VulkanRT
