When I try to launch .jpg files , I was getting the error "Invalid Value for Registry".  I tried to follow the suggestions for fixing this error by opening in Safe Mode and going to the command prompt.  The command "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth" (typed properly in the command mode) said the online option was not available.  I did notice that my jpg files opened properly in safe mode.  After getting out of safe mode, my jpg files now open properly, but I am concerned this is a temporary fix.

The success depends critically on the default application you are using to open the files.

When you rebooted back into normal mode, it could be that your default Picture setting got changed and the app you are using now works properly.

You should enter "defaults" in the search area and look at the default app settings.
