Hi @GlennMc777,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error you're encountering during the software installation on your HP OMEN Laptop 15 seems to be related to a problem with the installation source. Here are some steps you can follow to try and fix it.

Run the Installer as Administrator

  • Right-click the installer file and choose "Run as Administrator."
  • This might resolve permission issues preventing the installer from accessing files or resources.

Clear Temporary Files

  • Temporary files can sometimes interfere with installations. Clear them using the following steps:
    1. Press Win + R, type temp, and hit Enter. Delete all files in the folder.
    2. Repeat by typing %temp% and clearing those files as well.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Ensure your system is fully updated by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and checking for any available updates.

Use the Windows Installer Troubleshooter

  • Microsoft provides a dedicated troubleshooter for installation problems:
    • Download the troubleshooter from here and follow the steps to detect and fix issues.

Verify the Source of the Installation File

  • Ensure you are downloading the correct version of the software from a trusted source, preferably the official HP OMEN or the software developer’s website.
  • If the file was copied from another location, try re-downloading it directly to your laptop.

Check for Corrupted Installation Files

  • If the installation file is corrupted, re-download it from the official source and try the installation again.

Use a Different Account

  • If possible, create a new local account on your laptop and try installing the software from that account to rule out user-specific issues.

Disable Antivirus Software

  • Sometimes antivirus programs block installations. Temporarily disable your antivirus software and attempt to install again.

Repair Windows Installer

  • If the installer itself is malfunctioning, you can attempt to repair it by running the following command:
    • Press Win + X, choose Command Prompt (Admin), and type:

sfc /scannow

  • This will scan and attempt to repair any corrupted system files.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
