@MTZ_5186, Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP EliteBook Folio 9470m Ultrabook.
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!
The error message you're seeing, "Install error - 0x80070103," is a common issue when attempting to install a driver that is already installed on the system or a driver that's not compatible. Here's how you can troubleshoot it on your HP EliteBook Folio 9470m Ultrabook:
-
Verify Current Driver Versions:
- Check Device Manager to see the current version of the USB driver installed on your system.
- To access Device Manager, right-click the Start menu and select "Device Manager."
- Expand the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" section and check each device for version numbers or other identifiers.
-
Download Latest Drivers:
- Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Enter your laptop's model number and look for updated USB drivers compatible with your system.
-
Uninstall Conflicting Drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click on the USB device causing issues and select "Uninstall device."
- After uninstalling, restart your computer. Windows will attempt to reinstall the USB drivers automatically.
-
Windows Update:
- Run Windows Update to ensure your system is fully up-to-date, which might provide newer drivers or patches.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click "Check for updates."
-
Hide Problematic Update:
- If the issue persists through Windows Update, consider hiding the problematic update using the “Show or hide updates” troubleshooter from Microsoft. It allows you to block problematic drivers from installing.
-
Manual Manufacturer Driver Installation:
- If an update isn't working via HP or Windows, you can manually download the latest drivers (e.g., chipset or USB drivers) from the chipset manufacturer’s website, like Intel, and install them.
I hope this helps!
Take care and have an amazing day!
