I have an HP Laptop (not a tablet) and cannot get the check boxes in Explorer to NOT show. I have deselected the View>Show>Item Check Boxes so they should NOT be showing. Researching the problem has led me to discover this is "normal" behavior for a tablet (ie the check boxes will ALWAYS be displayed when  a PC is in Tablet Mode) but I do not have a tablet. I have a laptop. Anyone have any advice? The checkboxes are 100% annoying... Thanks.

Welcome to the HP Community --

From your description, I doubt this is an "HP" thing -- sounds more like something going on in Windows.

What?  Hardware, regardless of the brand, is frequently just not a factor when Windows decides to do something odd or unexpected.

Try asking Microsoft -- there is a long and still active conversation about this issue at the Community.
