Pavilion Notebook mod15au070na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have a Paviolion Notebook modle 15au070na and wondered if it has an express card slot so that I can use an express card to firewire adaptor.

Hello @TJ19

Express Card Slots went to the wayside several years ago in HP consumer laptops.

Here are the specs for your model. It does not have an Express Slot.

If you are looking to connect an old firewire device, you would probably have better luck with a laptop that has a Thunderbolt port (also can be configured into some USB-c ports). Then get an adapter.

Apple has a T-Bolt to Firewire adapter available but they are not very common.

Thank you for the reply, I have a Sony HDV-HD1000 camcorder and I am useing powerdirector15 to make my videos but it does not recognize my camcorder.

Oh my. From what I've read, Firewire is the only way those old camcorders will transfer video anyway. Unfortunately Firewire has met its end of life several years ago.

I think you'll have to find a Thunderbolt enabled PC if you go new, then get an adapter. Or find an old PC with Firewire perhaps?  There are no passive adapters from USB to Firewire that I know of, that will work.

Sorry I cannot help much more than that.

There are a lot of specialty camcorder forums out there. I would look them up as they might have a better suggestion that we would here on HP.
