HP Envy Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have found conflicting information for plugging an external mic into the headphone/microphone jack.

A user manual for the HP Envy  says it doesn't support an external mic.  I found other areas where it shows you can add external microphone in this jack.

I am streaming on Zoom, teaching fitness class. I play my itunes, however they do not hear my voice well, so I wanted to purchase external microphone, so they could hear me better during the class stream. I do own a Shure Wireless Microphone , transmitter to receiver. Receiver has 2 style jacks. An XLR, and a 1.4 jack plug, which I can us to plug into a speaker. Would like to use this with the computer if there is a way.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you tried Microphone with other devices?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

  1. Right-click on the volume icon on the taskbar in the lower-right corner of your screen.
  2. Click on the Sounds option.
  3. In the sound window select the Recording tab.
  4. Select the microphone you want to use.
  5. Click the Configure button.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
