FN Action keys have stopped working

HP Recommended
HP ENVY Notebook - 17t-n000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The action hotkeys have suddenly stopped working.  The FN keys work at all times now.  This is new, and it's entirely possible a cat sat on the keyboard and enabled/disabled something, but I can not find any keys that change it back.  I can't adjust volume or turn on the keyboard lights, etc.

I've enabled and disabled again in BIOS, that made no difference.  I've tried a combination of keys including ctrl+shift and fn, in different combinations.  No joy.  Hotkey is not showing in services, nor is h-key or hkey or anything else similar.  The manual does not say how to fix it either. Any assistance is appreciated!

@frogabog

I reviewed your post and I understand that the action keys are not working on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Have you tried your FN and the function key?

Meanwhile, I recommend you update the BIOS and the chipset driver from the below link and check if it helps.

BIOS: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp88501-89000/sp88872.exe

Chipset: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72105.exe

HP System Event utility: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp75001-75500/sp75216.exe

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Unfortunately more was wrong than just the FN keys.  I found that I could not create new folders and since I had work to do I just reformatted and started anew.  All functionality returned after I did that.  Thank you for trying!
